Own a piece of history dating back to the early 1900s! The Colosseum was originally built as a powerhouse which converted natural gas to electric, suppling a trolly transportation system. This was short lived, and lasted until aprox. 1926. From then, the large brick-built structure held numerous businesses and venues including a vehicle repair shop, a dance hall, a boxing venue, and a skating rink. A tragic vehicle accident occurred in 2005 where a tractor trailer filled with fuel crashed through the wall and burst into flames. It has sat vacant ever since. The structure has been condemned, but its brick and steel built construction appears to be holding strong and could be salvaged. Many ideas have come and gone of what could be done with the structure since 2005, unfortunately none have materialized. This corner lot is 1.4 acres in size with frontage on SR 417 and the Powerhouse Rd. For more history check out the Facebook page dedicated to it The Best Day of the Ceres Skating Rink.
